2.3 Pollution
Indeed, this water resource supply also greatly gets contaminated to the brim due to industrialization
and urbanization. Water courses, which involve rivers and lakes, and aquifers could be contaminated
with chemicals, heavy metals, and pharmaceuticals from industrial processes and household refuse.
This degrades the quality of the water to a danger level that bears negative impact not only towards
human beings but to the aquatic ecosystems as well.
2.4 Ine cient Water Management
Water management in most areas has not been done efficiently. This leads to factors such as
over-extraction of ground waters, careless and lavish methods of irrigation, lack of proper
infrastructure setup among others that lead to mismanagement of available waters. Some areas
have very old water rights and allocation systems that have no correspondence with the present
conditions and challenges.
03 Consequences of the Water Crisis
The effects of the water crisis are diversified and reach to all different aspects of life and the environment.
3.1 Effects on Health
Among other bases of human health, the role of water has
been central. Waterborne contamination in water bodies
can be the resultant factor of a number of health problems
associated with it, varying from gastrointestinal infections
to malnutrition and chronic diseases. These conditions get
an added impetus when insufficiency of adequate means
and facilities is counted in regard to sanitation and
hygiene, which are prevalent in almost all developing
countries.
